Accelerometer sensor
Accelerometer sensors or accelerometers measure acceleration in 1, 2 or 3 axes. The accelerometer sensor uses MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology. This allows capacitance differences to be converted into an analogue signal by a small mechanical sensor chip. They operate at frequencies of up to 1,000 Hz, with measurement ranges between ±0.25 g and ±16 g, and can be deployed in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. This signal changes based on how much acceleration the sensor experiences.

Tailor-made or complete customizations
Not exactly what you are looking for? We offer standard inclinometers but can also help you
with a customized design or a complete measurement solution.
Why choose our accelerometer sensor?
The flexible design of the accelerometer sensor allows it to be easily customized for your specific solution. The outer casing comes in aluminium, stainless steel or plastic. DIS’s accelerometer sensor has a higher frequency range than inclinometers, meaning they can detect quicker movements with great accuracy.
The main functions of an accelerometer sensor are active vibration damping, vibration measurements, transport monitoring and preventive maintenance. An accelerometer sensor is mostly used in windmills, containers and agricultural machinery.
FAQ
I see that inclinometers, acceleration sensors and tilt sensors have the same family name (QG) in the product code. Why is that?
Technically, all these sensors are made with acceleration chips that measure gravitational forces (g-forces), hence the ‘G’ in the name. The gravitational force of the earth is a special form of g-force.
An inclinometer measures the angle relative to the horizon using the imaginary line from the center of the earth as a reference point. The tilt sensor uses this line to switch when a certain angle is reached and the acceleration sensor measures g-forces such as the gravitational force in the direction in which the sensor is sensitive (1, 2, or 3 axes).
Can I buy sensors with a different cable type, cable length and connector?
Yes, you can. On our website you will find the standard versions of the DIS sensors. These sensors are mostly suitable for doing tests. If you need a (small) series of sensors, custom-made sensors can be supplied. Basically DIS Sensors can supply all cables, cable lengths, connectors, gains etc. To submit requests and to retrieve surcharges please fill out the form below with as much detail as possible.
Can I buy sensors with a different range?
Yes, that’s no problem at all. Our wide range of high-quality sensors are designed to meet the specific needs of your projects. To ensure that we can provide you with the most accurate pricing and options, please fill out the form below with as much detail as possible.
Can I buy different sensors with an analogue output signal?
Sure you can. DIS Sensors can supply all required analogue output signals, such as 0 – 20mA, 0 – 5V , 1 – 9V, 0 – 10V etc. To submit requests and to retrieve surcharges please fill out the form below with as much detail as possible.
Can I buy sensors with a custom housing?
Yes, you can. We can develop custom-made housing, for example: die-cast housing or turning and milling. Please contact your local distributor or submit a request by filling out the form below.
Can I use a sensor mounted horizontally or vertically?
Sometimes you can, but usually this is not possible. The right mounting method is listed on the datasheet in the box left of the product photo.
Default:
1 – axis sensor from QG30- series: horizontal or vertical
1 – axis sensor from QG65/76- series: vertical
2 – axis sensor: horizontal
Sometimes it is possible to adjust the sensor to make a different method possible. If you have questions about how to adjust the sensor please contact us by filling out the form below.
The centering of a sensor fails. What could be wrong?
For safety reasons, the centering feature is only available during the first minute after power-up and for another minute after a successful centering action.
Centering is done by connecting the sensor to the centering wire (not connected / loose). Then you have to hold the centering wire to ground for at least 0.5 seconds. The sensor has to detect the transition from loose to ground.
In addition, some sensors (usually the ones that are mounted horizontally) have a centering range limited to ±5° horizontally to prevent the sensor from being centered at, e.g., 30° tilt and not functioning properly. Vertically mounted sensors have no range limitation and can be centered over the full 360°. Any possible limitation of the centering function is always specified in the datasheet.
