What is an Inclinometer Sensor?
An inclinometer sensor, also known as a tilt sensor, is a device that measures the angle of an object in relation to gravity. Data is usually displayed in degrees or percentages: Our sensors can display data in a variety of ways depending on your needs. These sensors are key in various industries for monitor static or dynamic tilt and ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
We have 3 types of inclination sensors:
- Static – These are used to measure angles when the object is stationary and are ideal for applications such as bridge alignment or solar panel positioning.
- Dynamic – These sensors are designed to measure tilt while the object is in motion and therefor well suited for mobile machinery, robotics, et cetera.
- Tilt switches – These are a specialized type of an inclinometer sensor that functions as an on/off switch. Often used in safety systems to trigger alarms or shut down equipment.
Unlike a traditional mechanical inclinometer, a modern electronic inclinometer sensor offers digital output, higher sensitivity, and advanced filtering for accurate angle detection in real-time.
Why choose our for DIS?
Our sensors stand out thanks to a combination of durability, accuracy, and versatility:
- High Accuracy: Up to ±0.04° resolution for demanding applications.
- Robust Design: IP67 or IP69K-rated housings for water, dust and shock resistance.
- Flexible Outputs: Available with analog (0-10V, 4-20mA) or digital (CANopen, CANbus J1939, CANopen Safety) interfaces.
- Single- and Dual-Axis Options: Measure inclination in one or two axes simultaneously.
- Compact Housing: Easy to integrate into tight spaces without compromising performance.
- Dynamic Filter options: Stable signal output, even in environments with vibration or sudden movement.
Built to perform, Designed to last
Every inclinometer sensor we produce undergoes rigorous testing to meet strict quality and reliability standards. Our advanced manufacturing processes and in-house calibration ensure consistent results, even under extreme conditions such as temperature fluctuations, vibration, and electromagnetic interference.
Applications
An inclinometer sensor plays a vital role in modern industrial applications. Here are just a few ways our customers use them:
- Mobile Machinery: Accurate position feedback and ensuring stability in excavators, bulldozers, and agricultural vehicles.
- Industrial Automation: Provide feedback for leveling systems and robotic arms.
- Energy Sector: Monitor tilt angles of solar panels for optimal sun exposure.
- Marine & Offshore: Ensure proper positioning and stability on ships and oil rigs.
- Safety Systems: Enable emergency shutdowns when unsafe angles are detected.
